We are aware of our role in the chemical industry, which is why we are actively engaged in environmental protection. We have been a proud member of the Responsible Care® programme since 2000. Our efforts are aimed at sustainable development, technical safety, protecting the health of our employees and caring for the good of nature and the local community.
We continuously monitor the impact of our business on the environment to precisely adapt the production processes to the highest environmental standards. We received an integrated permit in 2006, which confirms that we use the Best Available Techniques (BAT) to continuously improve these processes.
Specific initiatives, such as the reduction of environmental emissions or technological refurbishment, are evidence that innovation goes hand in hand with environmental care. Replacing coal-fired boilers with gas-fired units, installing safe acid storage systems or modern deodorising equipment are just some of the steps we have taken to reduce our environmental footprint.
We aim to ensure that our production processes are as environmentally friendly as possible. We use innovative solutions, such as modern ingredient feeding systems or advanced gas treatment systems. Our efforts to reduce the emissions of fluorinated gases and particulates translate into tangible benefits for the environment and improved quality of life for the employees and residents of nearby areas.
We keep looking for new ways of improving environmental performance, which makes us a leader in responsible production. We are convinced that the chemical industry can follow the principles of sustainable development.
We have invested in an innovative fertiliser coating system. It was built as part of the project “Development of a modern line of fertilisers coated with micro-organisms”. The project was a response to the needs of modern agriculture and gardening.
The new line of fertilisers will ensure adequate plant nourishment, and the formula enhanced with micro-organisms will increase the expected yield and stress resistance of crops. An additional benefit is the noticeable improvement in the quality of the granulate and the positive environmental impact. The bacteria included in the product facilitate nutrient absorption, enabling the achievement of the expected effects while reducing fertiliser doses.
We are certified according to ISO 14001 – the international standard of the environmental management system. It helps organisations minimise the negative environmental impact of their business while improving operational performance. The implementation of the standard enables us to better manage our environmental issues and reduce waste and energy consumption.
SPECIFIC ACTIONS
We are engaged in various initiatives designed to achieve specific environmental effects – reduce the consumption of raw materials and harmful emissions.
- We have reduced the emissions of energy pollution into the air due to plant heating by more than 99%.
- We have installed an innovative sulphuric acid unloading system. We use a safe acid storage and handling system.
- We have reduced the emissions of fertiliser dust (modern vibrating screen on the process lines).
- We have retrofitted the fluorinated gas absorption system that removes the by-products of superphosphate production.
- We have installed modern deodorising equipment.
- We have systems to treat exhaust gases from all granular fertiliser production lines.
- We have achieved a high level of dust removal and gas treatment to remove fluorine compounds and HCl, which is important to the health of our employees and nearby citizens.
- We have a raw material feeding and homogenisation system – we have introduced a new system to prepare fertilisers for granulation.
- We have purchased treatment machines that reduce the release of nitrogen and phosphorus into port waters.
